What is Different when Pregnant with Twins

Pregnancy with twins is more likely to happen if you are in your 30s or 40s. When reaching this age, women might have difficulties getting regular ovulation, so it is possible that they are ovulating two follicles at the same time, resulting in twins. Pregnancy with twins is more difficult and risky than with that is with one. Women expecting twins have to double their nutrition in order to nourish both babies, although they might have harder times than the ones carrying one.

Is Morning Sickness Worse with Twins

morning sickMorning sickness occurs as the result of sudden increase in the level of both estrogen and Human ChorioricGonadotroph (HCG)—hormone produced by placenta during pregnancy. Despite its forms of nausea and vomit, morning sickness is believed as signs that everything in your pregnancy is going well, because morning sickness happens when you have adequate level of hormones. When being pregnant with twins, you have higher level of estrogen and HCG and thus, might lead to worse symptoms of morning sickness than those experienced by women pregnant with one.Expecting mothers with twins usually complain about more frequent nausea, acute hemorrhoids, or severe headache. Some even faint and cannot stand up for more than 10 minutes. Hence, it is normal for expecting-twins mothers to spend their pregnancy time bed resting.

How long does Morning Sickness Last with Twins

When carrying twins, you have to pay attention to your nutrition intake, despite all the nausea and other sickness you might feel. Most women expecting twins report that they have very bad nausea, vomit frequently—even during days, severe fatigue, bad headache, and hyperpigmentation. Most of them cannot take foods in without let it out not long before. Similar to pregnancy with one, morning sickness with twins starts in round week 4 to 6. The intensity can be much worse and can happen more frequently compared to pregnancy with one. The first trimester is the hardest one. Nausea occurs early in the morning right after wake up, reoccur every time you eat, and vomiting becomes usual. With twins, these symptoms are worse and a lot more frequent. As for the length, you might start experiencing morning sickness in week 4 and have it faded in week 14. This usually happens when you are carrying only one baby in your womb. However, slightly different experience is reported with twins. When pregnant with twins, morning sickness also occurs in week 4, but usually last longer. Some women have it ended in week 16, some in week 18, while some report that the nausea and vomit reoccur during pregnancy to right before delivery. Of course, this might vary, depending on your level of hormones and body state. Some women even report that they are carrying twins with no symptoms of morning sickness.

How to Ease Morning Sickness when Carrying Twins

Dealing with morning sickness is something every expecting mother is seeking. With light disturbances of morning sickness, women can reduce its effects by eat small portion frequently or by smelling certain foods or herbs. When pregnant with twins, where every symptom gets more difficult, it is advised that you replace their solid foods with liquids. You are advised to have yoghurt, milk, or juice between your eating times. This will reduce the effects of morning sickness. As for mothers with higher level of hormones, it is advised that they take enough time to rest. In order to ease morning sickness in the morning, you can take some crackers to avoid emptied stomach which can lead to worsen nausea. Although carrying twins causes double effects of nausea, vomit, headache, reflux, or back pain, it will also occur in double joys when everything ends. You need to keep your diets healthy and your mind positive. Choose any remedy that can ease your morning sickness so that it will not affect your capability to stay active during your pregnancy—whether you are carrying one or double bundle of joys.
