When you’re pregnant, your body is going through a series of hormone changes and it often cause things like taste and smell to be affected. It also tends to start dictating the food that you crave, and we thought it would be fun to compile these cravings into one place. There are a lot of very bizarre stories of food cravings out there, but we decided to pool that information into the most common ones. You might find your own cravings well represented here.
French Fries
Not very weird on this one, but this does seem to be the most common. Junk food in general is at the top of the list which includes Chocolate and just about anything fried. Since french fries are EVERYWHERE, it makes sense that they are the top of our list here.
Mustard
Strangely, mustard seems to be a very common desire during pregnancy. and this can take some strange forms. From women eating mustard on plain bread, to mustard on donuts (gross). There seems to be something about this condiment that pregnant women find appealing. And by the way, the most popular kind of mustard? Honey Mustard.
Pickles
Yes, pickles, the strong odor and yet tasty treat that some love. Mostly, this is not a food that gets combined with other things, but otherwise opposing eaters have found themselves devouring an entire jar of pickles in one sitting.
Olives
Olives are a staple in the pregnant, hormone drive individual. Strangely, there are stories of olives getting put on ice cream, yogurt, and not so strangely, on pizza. But there are also plenty of cravings for olives right out of the can.
Nonedible Foods
Yup. It’s called “Pica” which is a condition in which one craves and eats nonfoods. It happens, and can actually be triggered by pregnancy. Obviously this is not a good craving and women should talk to their doctors about it.
